The start of the mission to exchange scientific experience was launched on June 3, at an online scientific conference in the framework of the Russian-Finnish Science Park (RFLSP) project, at which researchers from the USA, Finland and Russia discussed current problems in the field of medical genetics.

Opening the conference, Director of the AFS Regional Engineering Center JSC Technopark of St. Petersburg, RFLSP Project Manager, Elena Petrova, noted: “Today, as never before, we understand the importance of creating and manufacturing effective diagnostic test systems based on molecular genetics methods, the creation of target-oriented drugs, DNA vaccines."

The online format allowed scientists working with the diagnosis and treatment of various systemic, infectious and oncological diseases to share their approaches and tools used in genetic laboratory and clinical studies from around the world.

According to the moderator of the conference, Kalervo Väänänen, President of the Institute of Finland, Professor Emeritus of Saint Petersburg State Chemical Pharmaceutical University, former rector of the University of Turku University of Turku, Finland, the format of the event allowed not only quick contact with colleagues, but also the transfer of knowledge across borders.
